The Bay Mirror, newspaper of the year since it was introduced to the show in season four, is now the work place of Phoebe Halliwell. For years Phoebe was unable to find a job that she enjoyed and that didn’t require her magical talents in order to help those around her. Phoebe unintentionally managed to impress Elise, the editor of the paper, whilst covering for an innocent who was busy elsewhere infected with power which she wasn’t supposed to have. Carol, the innocent, told her demon-like boss that the work wasn’t hers and quit her job to spend more time with her family away from the job and boss she hated.

Becoming a local celebrity as ‘Ask Phoebe’ the paper began to flourish and from Phoebe’s column alone doubled the Bay Mirror’s readership. Phoebe was now able to work from home and fight demons whenever she was needed. All Phoebe had to do was make sure a copy of her column was ready to go to print.

After a reader claimed that ‘Ask Phoebe’ gave her some bad advice Phoebe almost had the job that allowed her to be Charmed and paid ripped from beneath her. However, it seemed that it had been another of Cole’s devious attempts to break the power of three using the law. Many years on, although Phoebe was more than qualified in San Francisco’s eyes to advise them on their everyday issues, as a precaution Elise hired a professional to evaluate and edit her advice if it didn’t meet his standards but he was later fired. This triggered Phoebe’s return to college to get her graduate degree and get the professional credentials she deserved.

Whilst working at the paper she has had interviews with Nancy O’Dell, Cosmo magazine and she has even guest hosted ‘Chit chat, this and that’. Phoebe also won the San Francisco Readers Choice award and moonlighted as editor of the paper for the day, she did a good job. Phoebe later went on to write a best selling book ‘Phoebe’s finding love’ as well as working at the paper giving advice and helping others to find love.

When filming the Bay Mirror also doubled up as the police station. Phoebe seems to have the only office at the paper however Phoebe’s office also moonlighted as Jason Dean’s office in season 5, a very good use of sets.
