The beautiful Halliwell Book of Shadows has been the families magical guide to witchcraft for generations. The book contains spells, potions, countless entries on demons and warlocks as well as information on other magical beings. It is this information and the sisters bond that has ensured their survival.

It was created by Melinda Warren shortly before she burned at the stake. The only dated page is the 'Book of Shadows' title page, it is dated 1693. Bound in green leather and added to by each generation the book has grown to become the huge tome that everyone knows today. Protected by good magic to deny evil from coming near the book can only be taken out of the house by a Charmed one.

The actual prop is all hand drawn but its pages are sometimes influenced by computer fonts. The book is kept in a safe when not in use and is kept under lock and key. The book has many siblings used when filming. One book is made from foam for action scenes, one has a built in device that allows the pages to turn and one is wired so that the triquetra can glow.
